Armstrong Beach is a beautiful place, set back from the main highway about 15mins east of Sarina. A quiet little town that has loads to offer; one of them being accommodation.... Armstrong Beach caravan park was such a lovely place to park our van and explore. The cost was $30 for 2 people/night...... children extra. The caravan park has a very clean amenities block with flushing toilets and hot showers, a BBQ area, happy hour area, and a very convenient little fisherman's nook; fully equipped with sink'n'tap, filleting bench and seating area for fishing high tide. There is a playground basically straight across the road, and local wildlife included lorikeets and musical birds, green tree frogs and cool looking ducks that liked eating our dried rolled oats. The sand was unbelievably soft! Even the hard, wet sand was 'cloud-like' to touch. A local croc lives in a creek around the corner but we never saw him. The boys were stoked they were able to swim.
The boys made some friends in the caravan park; Jake and tahni... they all had so much fun together! Playing in the water, having mud fights, cutting up and eating coconuts, playing some board games, and playing spotlight with their head torches when night fell.

Noah had his 10th birthday while we stayed here at Armstrong Beach. We made a vanilla cake with cream cheese icing.... yum! The boys delivered pieces of the cake to fellow campers - nice sharing Noah! Cahil's present to Noah was to be his slave for the day....so he could bash him and Cahil wasn't allowed to complain.
A friend of our's - Julian - very kindly took us on a tour of the town..... one place he took us to was the port - at Hay Point. This is where all the coal trains dump their load of coal onto the big conveyer belts which in turn load the ships ready for exporting. It was very exciting to see the process. We looked through the telescope for more magnificent views, and read some great information about the coal mining and shipping.
Matt was invited by a friend of Julian's to go out fishing in a boat to the islands.

Had a ball in Armstrong Beach - loved the caravan park and the beautiful beaches. We will definitely visit again one day.
