Banka Banka
Our journey to Banka Banka was over 600km's! Our biggest drive yet! We loved all of the termite mounds along the way - they seem to be bigger in the Northern Territory. A lot of them were dressed cleverly in hats, shirts and sunnies. We found a groovy one sitting in a chair and found out that it was created by a travelling friend of ours Sarah Mather-Pearce. We became very inspired to build our own little outback snowman... so we took an hour out of our journey to build him.
Banka Banka station was a great place to stay for a couple of nights... hot showers, flushing toilets, $2 washing, kids free, adults $10/night. They put on a campfire every evening for everyone to join in.
A short climb up onto the lookout hill gives spectacular views of the camp and surrounding area. Another 2.5km's trekking over rocky terrain leads you to a beautiful fresh water swimming hole. It was nice to cool off and shed a few flies in the process.
Over the back you will find a docile horse and happy cow in the paddock... they love a pat. Our favourite though was Betty; an adorable loving calf that loved a pat and scratch under her neck. She followed Noah around and came to visit us again before we left - I think Betty wanted to come with us!
