Corella Dam . . .
Corella Dam is a beautiful mass of water that follows on further down - explored fully only by boat. The locals will tell you that 2 fresh water crocs live in the dam; we beg to differ..... a morning scoot in the boat gave us a head count of 16 fresh water crocs! You can swim here but we chose not to. There are redclaw in the dam but we had more luck catching turtles and having our crab pot float chomped by a croc. The terrain is rocky and prickly with plenty of spaces to camp around the top end of the dam. Bird life is abundant. A good drive to the ghost town of Mary Kathleen is well worth the trip; where you will find all the old slabs from buildings that once stood there and also an old uranium mine which is now filled with turquoise coloured water.
